Oh, triste giorno!
Al login la risposta è stata: The nation "sequojeda" no longer exist.
a) Sequojeda è stata nuclearizzata;
b) Sequojeda ha conquistato il mondo ed ora non esistono più singole nazioni Sequojeda compresa;
Bye, bye

"Yggdrasil is our job"

Prime commercial land is being swamped with archaeological teams, an increasing percentage of the population's youth have homosexual parents, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, and the government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sequojeda's national animal is the beaver, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the orbis.

The Borderlands of Sequojeda is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.855 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Referenda can be called for any law at the request of at least one third of the voting population, space research funding has hit a recent high while several military bases are being closed down, highschool principals regularly send armed truancy patrols to drag problem students to school, and the Sequojeda Automotive Racing Series draws millions of spectators annually while those near the tracks complain about the noise. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sequojeda's national animal is the beaver, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the orbis.

Questa è la versione originale in inglese: The Borderlands of Sequojeda is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.188 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Public Transport, and Education. Gambling addicts regularly lose their families' nest eggs at Native Sequojedaite casinos, riots have broken out as a water shortage threatens Sequojeda's stability, space shuttles regularly launch rubbish into space, and there's a shortage of swinging hot spots as land development grinds to a halt. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons.

A loose coalition of political activists running the gamut of the political spectrum has started a petition to add 'None of the Above' as an option on every ballot, so that a voter can reject all candidates if he feels none of them represent a viable option. If 'None of the Above' wins the election, a new election with all-new candidates would have to be held.

Come?
Civil rights: excellent;
Economy: strong;
Political freedom: superb.
The Borderlands of Sequojeda is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its burgeoning beaver population. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 370 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Commerce, and Education. The average income tax rate is 42%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Beavers are frequently shot for looking at people 'in a funny way', untold millions of orbiss are going into a new government-funded maternity leave scheme, Sequojeda is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, and traffic jams are a common sight due to construction work from a massive overhaul of the nation's freeways. Crime is moderate. Sequojeda's national animal is the beaver, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the orbis.
Sequojeda is ranked 297th in the region and 28,668th in the world for Most Income Equality.

Workers across the nation have gone out on indefinite strike over what they claim are substandard wages in the Cheese Exports industry.
The Debate

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt:
1. "We are the backbone of this country, and we demand a fair wage rise!" says union leader Hope Mistletoe. "I don't think a 20% increase over two years is too much to ask. Unless the government forces employers to give us our due, we'll shut this whole industry down! Let's see how well Sequojeda's economy manages without any Cheese Exports, huh?

L'EVOLUZIONE DI SEQUOIJEDA

The Borderlands of Sequojeda is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its burgeoning beaver population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 8 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large government concentrates mainly on Law & Order, although Healthcare and Social Welfare are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 27%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Gambling industry, followed by Cheese Exports and Furniture Restoration.

Voting is voluntary. Crime is moderate. Sequojeda's national animal is the beaver, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the orbis.

Sequojeda is ranked 79th in the region and 45,334th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens.

Sentenza odierna delle Nazioni Unite su Sequojeda: Sequojeda is ranked 50,400th in the world for Greatest Rich-Poor Divides.

The Issue: Should Democracy Be Compulsory?
In response to a slow news week, certain highbrow newspapers have stirred up the debate over voluntary vs compulsory voting.

The Debate:

1. "Compulsory voting makes about as much as sense as having the death penalty for attempted suicide," says civil rights activist Larry Mistletoe. "You can't force people to be free! You can only give them the choice. Besides, if all those derelicts who can't be bothered to get off their ass once every few years voted, who would they elect? I shudder to think."
This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

2. "It's not contradictory at all," argues political commentator Hack Summers. "The fact is, if not everyone votes, the outcome isn't truly representative. Some groups--like elderly gun nuts--vote more often than others. That's why always we always end up with such terrible politicians."

3. "This raises an interesting issue," says Faith Broadside, your brother. "And that is: why do we need elections, anyway? Seems to me it would be much simpler if you just decided what was right, and did it. Wouldn't that save everyone a lot of time?"

The Government Position: The government has indicated its intention to follow the recommendations of Option 1.
